Policy Statement
The health, safety and welfare of our employees, contractors, visitors and others who may be affected by our activities is of paramount importance. We are committed to:
- Providing and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment
- Ensuring safe systems of work and providing adequate supervision
- Assessing and controlling workplace risks through regular risk assessments
- Providing appropriate information, instruction, training and supervision
- Maintaining all equipment and facilities to a safe standard
- Providing adequate welfare facilities for all employees
- Ensuring effective consultation with employees on health and safety matters
Management Responsibilities
The management team has overall responsibility for health and safety within the organisation. This includes ensuring that adequate resources are made available for health and safety, monitoring performance, and taking corrective action when necessary. All managers and supervisors are responsible for implementing this policy within their areas of control.
Employee Responsibilities
All employees have a responsibility to:
- Take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others
- Co-operate with management on health and safety matters
- Report any hazards, incidents, or near-misses promptly
- Use equipment and substances in accordance with training and instructions
- Not interfere with or misuse anything provided for health and safety
Risk Management
We carry out regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate control measures. Our risk management approach is proactive, focusing on prevention rather than reaction. All risk assessments are documented and reviewed regularly, and whenever there are significant changes to our operations or working practices.
Training & Competence
We provide health and safety training to all employees as part of their induction and on an ongoing basis. Training is reviewed regularly to ensure it remains relevant and effective. We ensure that all employees are competent to carry out their duties safely.
Review
This policy is reviewed regularly and updated as necessary to ensure it remains current and effective. We are committed to the continual improvement of our health and safety performance and will set objectives and targets to drive this improvement.
